[alef] Sign stolen, Berlanty Azzam, film maker's award returned, Sheikh Jarrah, and a link to a video
However, the theft of the sign pales given Israel’s own immoral insensitive behavior towards Palestinians in Sheikh Jarrah as well as towards those who care and come to demonstrate against Israel’s acts, not to mention the continuous land theft and other colonial and occupation acts, including the night raids in Bil’in and Ni’lin. Given these, Israel’s indignation and anger seem out of place....
Also on another account the indignation seems out of place. Israel is extraordinarily sensitive to Holocaust symbols, even though some of its own are similar in kind. For instance, at the entrance to Bethlehem, now a ghetto surrounded by a wall, there is hanging on that ghetto wall, next to a lookout tower that could serve as well for a sniper’s post, a sign from the top of the wall to the bottom (8 meters, i.e., 25 feet) reads: “Peace be with you” and is signed by the Israeli Ministry of Tourism.
When my spouse and I first saw it, we turned to one another and instinctively, with no prior discussion, uttered at one and the same time, ‘arbeit macht frei.’ We had not been to Auschwitz. But we had been to other camps--Teresenstadt (when researching the fate of his maternal grandparents) and on another occasion to Dachau. Both had the identical sign: “Arbeit macht frei,” a saying that can be quite reasonable if (as a German friend pointed out), you are trying to find something positive to suggest to a person who is despondent, but chilling and brutal in a slave-labor and death camp.
So also the sign at the entrance to Bethlehem—quite pleasant sentiment, and appropriate to the city where Jesus was born, but not on the wall of a ghetto. Today not even the Magi could get to the manger. Not only the wall would prevent them, but also Israeli soldiers would stop them unless they could produce permits.

CALL FOR ACTION
December 19, 2009
Join Urgent Appeal to Maintain Universal Jurisdiction and Enable the Prosecution of War CriminalsDear Friends,
The Coalition of Women for Peace (CWP) calls feminist organizations from around the world to join us in signing a letter to British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Foreign Secretary David Miliband, following their proclaimed intent to change the law that enables British local courts to issue warrants against foreign war criminals.
This decision was declared following an arrest warrant issued last week by a London magistrates court against Tzipi Livni, who was the Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs during the assault on Gaza last year (Operation Cast Lead). If the British government will execute this decision, it will be a dangerous precedent that will risk future attempts to bring other war criminals to justice.
We believe that feminist organizations – which are familiar with the devastating impact of war and institutionalized violence on women and other socially disadvantaged groups – must voice their concern and act against such dangerous policies. As a feminist organization of Palestinian and Israeli Women, we believe that all Israeli officials who made operational decisions during Operation Cast Lead, including Tzipi Livni, should face charges for their involvement in war crimes.

Subject: 62nd Anniversary of Partition
Sunday is the anniversary of UN GA R181, the “Partition Resolution”. Partition remains the elephant in the room. No one wants to talk about it. … They recognize the State of Israel’s “right to exist”. Like the supporters of UN GA R181, they deny the right of the people of Palestine to exercise sovereignty over Palestine. What about the dissident supporters of the so-called “one-state solution”? They don’t turn their minds to how one gets from here to there. They somehow believe that a democratic one-state solution will fall from the sky, peacefully, without revolution. That is why these same well-meaning people attribute no role to the actual social and class forces living under Israeli rule and suffering from Israeli rule in besieged Gaza and the refugee camps. By not recognizing the need for revolution, the one-staters take no interest in the people who have an interest in revolution, those who can and will make a revolution, those for whom the daily struggle contains within it the unripe seeds of that revolution.
All the soft Zionists work hard and make sacrifices for a better, more peaceful, more democratic State of Israel, but they will not admit that the Zionist regime is the number one obstacle to peace and coexistence. Re-considering Partition, formulating a political strategy for the de-colonization of Palestine -- that, for them, is beyond the Pale.

It's a remarkable fact that the desire to deny mass murder is directly correlated to the desire to commit it, as seen both in Holocaust denial and in the denial of Zionist massacres, which today are accomplished even more by malnutrition than by outright killing, as with the Americans in Iraq. Easier to control the headlines that way - starvation is silent.

What I find most interesting is the similarity in technique between the Jacobs of this world and holocaust deniers. I say technique not scale before anyone leaps up and down. The latter don't deny Jews were killed, it's just the numbers that were exaggerated (among other allegations). Likewise 'only' 100 or so were murdered at Deir Yassin.
It is a historic fact that a massacre took place at Deir Yassin, Duweimah, Tantura and many, many other places. Why then does Jacob pretend otherwise? Is it because he knows that the present Israeli state rests on some very rotten foundations?

AUTHOR: Mary RIZZO
In many parts of the West, certain political parties or movements are treated as if they come from the Moon or are alien to any body politic. Their existence among the people is always scrutinised as negative, transitory and something created in a boardroom or a backroom, imposed upon an unsophisticated public that is unable to differentiate a true political programme from empty and simplistic rhetoric. These parties or movements are depicted as if they only address the margins of society who are disenfranchised from any “normal” democratic bodies, and thus, are ramshackle bands that represent a minority constituency. Given their oppositional nature to pre-existing parties, they are outfitted with the label that will serve to keep them isolated from the structures that are already in operation. All of this is to destroy the party or movement by propaganda work rather than analysis of reality.
An entire mythology has been built around the Palestinian resistance movement (which morphed into a party) Hamas. This construct has actually taken on more legitimacy as a factual interpretation of Hamas than the facts themselves. In most of the Western media, no matter if it is on the right or the left, and in some of the “moderate” media in Arab countries, the very name of the party is coupled with terms such as “fundamentalist”, “radical” or “terrorist”. Clearly, this serves to create a fear trigger that will remove the word from being critically and honestly evaluated. The listener will immediately identify Hamas with a negative connotation and is removed from responsibility for understanding that this is a manipulation of reality. The listener is expected to accept the claims that Hamas is “anti-democratic” and “fanatical”. It is child’s play to then convince the listener that Hamas is Bad, that it is the Enemy of all We represent (in our own eyes, tolerance, democracy, Goodness itself). It is possible to then extend that reading to the belief that action must be taken against them, that they are a “cancer that must be gotten rid of”, as quoted by the institutional peacenik, Noa. How does one eradicate a cancer, once it has been diagnosed? By extirpation or bombardment. With cancer treatment, one “bombards” even the healthy parts of the body with toxic agents, waiting to see if after the battle there were enough healthy parts remaining to allow the organism to continue to exist. Once you have set into the minds of millions of people the idea that destruction is good, because the enemy is just so damaging and evil if allowed to exist, the risk of bringing the entire organism to its grave by weakening it dramatically is taken as a viable risk to run. This is a way to make them justify actions that their own eyes don’t see as therapeutic, but are pure horror and evil.

The nearest and most obvious comparison is with the Judenrat, the Jewish Councils which the Nazis established in Occupied Europe as a means of facilitating the extermination of European Jewry. They too took orders from the oppressor without asking questions.

The key issue need no longer be a subject of endless debate. There must be a one-state solution consistent with democratic principles of full equality. Informed Americans are no longer willing to support a theocratic state in which full citizenship is limited to those deemed 'Jewish' (whatever that means). If local birth rates suggest an eventual end to the 'Jewish state,' then so be it. Why wait two decades when this nightmare can be drawn to a close in less than five years?
Forget about a return to pre-1967 borders, instead return to pre-1948 borders. Designate Jerusalem an international city under U.N. protection and dispatch multi-national forces to maintain peace. Palestinians should have a right of return, including the ability to recover properties from which they fled under an assault by Jewish terrorists. If Colonial Zionists (aka settlers) want compensation for 'their' property, let them seek restitution from the Diaspora that encouraged their unlawful occupation.
Those who consider themselves 'Jewish' can remain as part of an inclusive democracy. Or they can depart.

You see, I am having trouble distinguishing the lunacy of our Aryan Nations from that of the Zionists. Can one claim that the Zionists had a legitimate national identity or character whereas the Aryans' national identity was merely hogwash? Aren't we more true to the moral, humanitarian issues at a stake if we regard the Zionist/Israeli claim to nationhood as a pretext posed solely to rationalize a racist agenda, namely, the disinheritance and marginalizing of unJews to the material advantage of Jews.

With Democrats, Republicans and even the Communist-organized Progressive Party competing for Jewish votes in the November Presidential election, Harry Truman's monetary aid bought arms from pro-Soviet Czechoslovakia, and an Israel was born, run by the German Zionists' cothinkers in Jerusalem.
Jews and other Americans still know little of Zionism's sordid past. But today only programed fanatics can come away pro-Zionist after reading plain facts. Indeed, according to the American Jewish Identity Survey (2001), less than 22% of all Jews declare themselves Zionist.
Opposition to Zionism also grows among liberal educated gentiles, every time their declared enemy, Pat Robertson, howls in favor of Orthodox Israel.

Always devout believers in freedom of speech, Britain's Zionists are now attempting to criminalise comparisons between Zionist and Nazi practices. London's Jewish Chronicle first ran the story 2 weeks ago. I guess we must call this the fall-out from Gaza....
Now the definition of a nation, which is what ‘Jewish people’ means, is normally understood to mean a common language, economy and territory. Otherwise such a ‘people’ is nothing more than a metaphysical and mystical entity, such as the Aryan race. Before the term 'race' was in vogue it was common to refer to the 'Jewish race.' Jews worldwide speak many different languages, live in and are citizens if a wide variety of countries, and share the common fate of the non-Jews they live with. Yet in order for there to be a world-wide Jewish conspiracy there must be a single world-wide Jewish people, bound together by ties that are political and racial not religious. Indeed this was precisely the criticism that the overwhelming majority of East European Jewry had of Zionism when it first arose. It was validating the very tenets of anti-Semitism.

The obsession with race, genetics and societies built on these premises were prevalent in the late 19th and early 20th centuries in Europe. Social Darwinism and Herbert Spencer. The origins of both Nazism and Zionism derive from this obsession with race and genetics. As many Jewish and other authors have pointed out both the Nazis and the Zionists wanted to get the Jews out of Germany and Europe and to Palestine. "Out with the Jews to Palestine" was a popular anti-Semitic slogan the Nazis used in the 1930's and one that the Zionists agreed with. It is one of histories little ironies that Nazis and Zionists, at least in this sense, shared the same objective.

And the Nazis do serve as a benchmark of sorts of the worst atrocities that can be inflicted on humanity. What is really being said here is that there should be no comparisons between Israel and the Nazis because of the sensitivities of the Zionists on this score, since they have themselves repeatedly summoned up the ghosts of Adolf to slay their enemies with. I'm sorry but I have little concern for the sensitivities of ethnic cleansers and mass murderers so I think comparisons are quite apposite, especially if they might have the effect of making some at least of the Israel people, or its Jewish component, think again. And that is also what it is about.
... But in the case of Gaza there was clearly no threat to the Israeli state, although it claimed there was. Didn't Germany claim that Poland presented a threat? They even went as far as to dress its own soldiers up in Polish army uniforms to attack their own soldiers to prove the point. Is that so different from Israel actively inviting and encouraging the 'rockets' which were eventually launched after November 4th?

But to accuse Ahmadinejad of anti-Semitism is to fall into the inverted mirror image of Ahmadinejad third worldism, a deep Eurocentrism that only knows to judge the world in terms of European categories and remains blissfully ignorant of non European circumstances, logics or categories of thought. In this regard, Brian Klug appears to exhibit the Orientalist thinking so eloquently denounced by Edward Said. Apart from ignoring that the largest Jewish community in the Middle East outside Israel lives voluntarily under Ahmadinejad’s sovereignty, Klug appears to ignore that Ahmadinejad’s extreme language is addressed to Israel and not to Jews. His Holocaust conference was an act of crass ignorance, not anti-Semitism. He falls neatly into the category that Joseph Massad calls Zionist Muslims, and he is an embarrassment to those who support the Palestinian cause. These "Zionist Muslims" deny the Holocaust because they subscribe to the Zionist logic that the Holocaust is the justification for Israel, so they believe that if they deny the Holocaust they will be denying Israel. This is a statement of crass ignorant Third Worldism but not of (western) Anti-Semitism. Instead of fighting Zionism, Ahmadinejad and his mates end up justifying a Zionist claim. And Brian Klug, in spite of his early perceptive differentiations between criticisms of Israel and anti-Semitism, joins the ranks of the Orientalists and those who use accusations of anti-Semitism to deflect criticisms of Israel.

ZIONISM: THE GAME IS OVER
Inspite of all the Zionist atrocities aimed at Ethnic Cleansing, Palestinian Arabs living within the borders of Mandate Palestine are approximately 4.5 million. Within ten to fifteen years, Arabs living in Palestine would become the majority even if the Palestinian Refugees living outside Palestine were not allowed to return to the homes and lands that were usurped from them.
Inspite of having a large army equipped with all the high-tech weaponry provided by the U.S., Israel failed to deter or stop Arab resistance.
On 27 December 2008, Israel launched "Operation Cast Lead" against the Gaza Strip and committed a massacre killing more than 1300 men, women and children and injuring more that 5500. The war was ended on 18 January 2009 without achieving Israel’s goal of ending Hamas.
The game is over. The Zionist lie of a "land without a people for a people without a land" did not fool any one. What we are witnessing these days is the end of the beginning and the beginning of the end, which will not take long: 5 - 20 years.

The use of the holocaust to keep anti-Semitism useful to the Jewish state, was the main reason for extraditing Aichman [sic] from Argentina to Israel, to stand trial by Israeli courts. The international community objected this and claimed that he should have stood trial in an international court instead. But the Israeli prime minister claimed that the new Israelis needed to be exposed to the trial, in order to increase their awareness and fear of the holocaust.
Also, prior to the 1967 victory of the 6 days war, the American Jewry did not feel safe to make a mention of the holocaust, and it was considered inappropriate to talk about it, as the Americans and the West was building strong relationships with Germany. Only when Israel became an important and strong allay of the US, it became very fashionable to use the holocaust whenever Israel is being criticized for its acts of aggression.

The claim of phoney [sic] antisemitic hate crimes by Zionists and certain Jewish organizations have been a favorite ploy for decades. These accusations are made to gain political advantage, especially when the group is being criticized for their crimes like their most recent ones in Gaza. This is the primary reason why they do not allow anyone to criticize the truthfulness of the "shoa". They claim that Jews were turned into "soap bars", that their skins where made into "lampshades" and that their "gold fillings" were turned into gold bars by the Nazis. This is also the reason why they are presently asking for the Roman Catholic Pope to resign because last week he forgave Bishop Richard Williamson for saying that he did not believe Jews perished in Nazi concentration camps in "gas chambers."
There have been numerous exposed antisemitic hate crime hoaxes throughout history.

Just as with the definition of a nation, there is no exact definition to genocide. Clearly if one looks at the numbers of Palestinians and other Arabs killed by Israel since its formation then it may well be 1/4 million or more. If that isn't a form of genocide then it's just playing with words. The fact that things were even worse in Gaza in 1956 than today is meaningless. In what way?

Gaza in 1956, for example, experienced massacres worse than anything that happened in 1967. And, the early period of occupation in 1967-68 saw more repression in the OTs than in subsequent years. It is true that with the second intifada repression has increased, but viewed in historical perspective, it is simply not true that we can talk about continuous escalation. There are ups and downs throughout the period. All the other similarities between Israeli and Nazi oppression are found in dozens if not hundreds of other cases in the modern era, predating - sometimes by centuries or millennia - and 'postdating' the Nazis, and without any relation to them.

Despite of course the holocaust having of course taken place outside the Promised Land. Maybe that is one of the 'interesting and informative' points she makes? Apart from her villification of Rudolf Vrba, who with Alfred Wetzler, were the 2nd and third Jewish escapees from Auschwitz credited with having saved the 200,000 Jews of Budapest when their Auschwitz Protocols, which Yad Vashem did its best to hide and cover up, were finally publicised, though no thanks to the Zionist movement and Rudolf Kastner who sat on them. Of course Vrba wasn't a Zionist therefore he should have taken heed of the 'national' historians.
Yes I would be very interested to hear what it is that Ran finds so interesting and informative.

None of the other examples given has the killers accusing their victims of having been Nazi or nazi-like. Hence why the analogy is employed less frequently. But unlesss the Nazi holocaust stands outside of history then of course it can be compared. Why ever not? Jewish Nazis like this, and it is no surprise he comes from that hotbed of racism and chauvinism in Bar Ilan University, are no different to their non-Jewish counterparts. One denies the past the other the present. No doubt the 400 children killed in Gaza were mere 'collateral damage'.

[alef] The Nazi Mentality (was they failed again)
Enriquo asks: 'Whether Nazi or not, who cares? It is murderous'. Elsewhere he describes it as criminal. It is certainly both of these things, though one has to ask a crime according to which laws? The laws of Israel do not prohibit what is happening in Gaza, anymore than they prevented the US doing likewise in Iraq.
But I do care whether it is Nazi-like or not. If you class this kind of rally as a collection of individuals who are, as Enriquo describes them, 'madmen, psychopaths, sociopaths' then you remove what is happening from society and attribute it to the personal characteristics of the individual. Unfortunately the Zionist settler attitude to the Palestinians explains the murderousness and it is Nazi-like in character not least because of the exterminationist mentality that lies behind it.
What is happening in Gaza is not irrational. It is a consequence of Zionist colonisation. It is no accident that virtually the whole Zionist spectrum - right to left, including Meretz and what's left of Mapam - supports the attack on Gaza. If we don't understand this then it can be dismissed as a consequence of an election, a particular leader etc. etc.
And we can also be clear on another thing. That Israel and Zionism is already beginning to suffer enormous political harm as a consequence.

What makes me uneasy is that it is not the first time I hear that sort of discourse. I call it "The Holocaust on its Head", or something like that. I mean, using the Holocaust tragedy to justify all sort of crimes. How is that possible? I only imagine a way of invoking the Holocaust: like a light upon the nations to prevent them from repeating crimes against humanity. And yet here we have people who defend massacres on behalf of the Holocaust! Yes, they are madmen, psychopaths, sociopaths, whatever you may call them... I loath them because they have destroyed something I cherished above all things: the lessons from Nazi inhumanity to be finally humans, as the moral greatness of so many victims was crying out for us, the whole of the humanity, to march towards goodness. The horror of millions of Jews, Gypsies, Russians, methodically destroyed on behalf of racist supremacy of an evil ideology...
And now, what? Sick people who are able to imagine an essentially similar act of destruction using and abusing those victims for their racist and colonialist despicable ends! In the name of all mine has become a rallying cry for murdering defenceless and poor people, who own nothing, not even a country, who have been subjected to starving ghetto conditions, and now are being wiped out like insects!!!
Whether Nazi or not, who cares? It is murderous. And at the end of the day, if there is any justice left on earth, only a Criminal Court will be able to restore justice, to the victims from now, and to the victims in whose name these barbaric acts are being done.

[alef] The Nazi mentality and the Israeli mentality
If we proceed, say, from Raphael Lemkin's understanding of 'genocide', then Israel and its Jewish people have been perpetrating a sustained, six-decade act of genocide against the Palestinians. I realize that not everyone is content to follow Lemkin. Some contend that it's not genocide until you actually start marching the people into gas chambers, but I don't know of any Holocaust scholar who does not point out that genocide begins long before the actual killing.
It is fair to point out that the United States is vastly larger than Israel and is responsible for the 'excess deaths' and outright killings of a vastly greater number of the world's people. It seems to me that wars of aggression and the concomitant crimes against humanity amount to a kind of genocide. Americans have invented and embraced the peculiar rationale that bringing death to other peoples is a loving and humanitarian act. Killing people for their own good is likely a sort of covert racism, likely as damnable as Israel's overt racism.
Perhaps we should be interested in whether Israel's treatment of the Palestinians is more like the Germans' treatment of the Jews or more like America's treatment of the Iraqis. My impression is that the Zionists and Israeli Jews have behaved far more like the Nazis than like the Americans.

Of course the majority of Zionists would be satisfied with the two state solution as it legitimizes their conquest and depopulation of Palestine. The majority of Palestinians are forced into submission and acceptance of that "solution" by their Zionists occupiers, their US ally and the collaborative Abbas regime. But that so called solution leaves out the majority of Palestinian - those in the refugee camps, the diasporas and those living inside the Zionist state as second class citizens. The one state solution (in which Israel ceases to exist) isn't something concocted by a "bunch of confused intellectuals", but is common sense, compliance with international law and human sense of justice.

It is all correct, I don't dispute any of this. The one missing issue is that the OSS or One-State Solution (in which Israel ceases to exist) is worth struggling for, while the Two-State Solution is not. The Palestinians were united behind the OSS when the world did not even recognize their existence. They came out of the 1948 very disadvantaged and compromised, with life under martial law within 1948 Israel and hundreds of thousands of them living under awful conditions in refugee camps dispersed throughout the Middle East. Today the situation is still very bad, but more and more people around the world are becoming aware of the fact that Israel itself is an Apartheid state and that keeping it Jewish and Zionist without any attempts to dismantle this system, will not solve the conflict.... Only under the OSS will it be clear that the region can no longer afford nationalistic/racist ideologies to dictate who and where people are allowed to reside, and under what rights. People understood it in regard to the South Africa Apartheid and are beginning to understand it in regard to the Israeli colonial/Apartheid system

Do not the Palestinians have a name also, and brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers who have been brutally killed, tortured, beaten, thrown into prisons (and more)?
Unbelievable! Then again, this is Israel where truth is stranger than fiction.

What is worse, anyone who dares parallel this to the atrocities now carried out by the Jewish state of Israel against Palestinians risks being branded as "Anti-Semitic", a "Jew hater", or an "Israel basher."
'Perhaps this fear of being ostracized and branded with such ugly labels is Israel's most clever tactic because it gives it a guise under which to implement its own schemes, unhindered and largely un-judged. This must be the case in Jerusalem, where so many injustices and racist policies are being carried out on a daily basis against its Palestinian residents, with the world community hardly batting an eyelid.'

Sidney Jacob's denial (Letters, November 5) of the comparison that Paul Oestreicher draws (The legacy of Kristallnacht, (November 4) is a knee-jerk reaction that seeks to portray Nazi Germany's attitude to the Jews as a unique, one-off occurrence [sic]. Unfortunately there are only too many parallels that can be drawn in the period 1933-39.
When Jewish mobs shouted "death to the Arabs" in Acre a few weeks ago, that was certainly reminiscent of pogroms in Europe. When slogans such as "Arabs to the gas chambers" are daubed on the separation wall, the parallels are also clear. When Israeli military and police stand by while Arabs peasants tending their olive groves are assaulted by settlers, and when even international observers are injured, then that brings to mind a similar refusal by authorities in Germany to uphold the law and protect their Jewish inhabitants....

Good point regarding the embellishment, glad to see other people are getting concerned about such comments (cf the Alef member who has still not corrected the “half those killed by IDF during the Intifada were children”.)
Being in the middle of researching the Kuntar saga the only answer is “who can tell?”
Kuntar has strongly denied the allegation, while admitting everything else. See Chen Kotes-Bar in Ma'ariv (H) http://www.nrg.coil/online/1/ART1/761/666.html translated in the Guardian http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/jul/19/lebanon.israelandthepalestinians
What we do know is that the evidence was circumstantial, there were no eye witnesses around. We know that the pathologist said that Einat Haran died from a heavy blow by a blunt instrument to the head. This does not rule being hit against a rock. The case against Kuntar also included the stated fact that there was some brain tissue on the handle of his gun. Again I do not regard that it as conclusive proof. On the other hand who can tell what a frightened 16 year old boy did while being shot at?
The only answer we have is that we don’t know but we should not take either the Israeli “vile murderer” or Kuntar protestation of innocence at face value. In assessing our view we should remember what Kotes-Bar pointed out that Einat would have still been alive had Kuntar not taken her father hostage.
Now there is enough for both cheer squads to have a go.

"In .Defensive Wall., the most moral army in the world
Indiscriminately killed every woman and child
And for that every soldier and commander was singled out for praise
And how many pregnant women whose bellies were sliced open
Are on the conscience of our army"
I never heard about slicing bellies of pregnant women. Some of it may have happened but that one does not seem typical "feature" of our most moral army, unlike, for example, beating of detainees. Defensive Shield was an act of mass bullying, and was done in the framework of long term policy towards disposession and terrorising Palestinians, but "indiscriminate murder of women and children" was not there. It happened in Ruanda, in 2-nd World War etc but not there. Some women and children died, but it is not the same thing. Things are going for the worse - as most Israelis exempted themselves from decency towards Arabs, and mass murder may still happen given the appropriate conditions, but it did not happen until now.
Other things happened such as mass imprisonment and deprivation of Gazans and much much more, but I would stick to describing things that did happen in as accurate detail as possible.

Let's face it. Israel thrives on incidents such as this, and it's just another way to show the kind of suffering its citizens must endure at the hands of Palestinian "terrorists" and why it must carry out its revengeful acts in order to protect its citizens. It's the perfect excuse for what it would probably do anyway using some kind of pretense.
The only time an incident like this won't be on the front page or not even in a newspaper is when it concerns Palestinians being killed by Israeli soldiers or settlers. A bulldozer took the life of Rachel Corrie, it wasn't exactly front page news in the USA, or even second page. Rachel, who was the victim, was depicted more like a terrorist.
I also recall a few occasions where Palestinians were killed inside their homes while Israel was in the process of bulldozing them to the ground, yet, I don't remember anyone calling the operators of those bulldozers terrorists. Yet it was done, not as an individual act, but on behalf of Israel because that was their job, just like Moshe Nissim who operated a bulldozer in Jenin in 2002 that buried some people alive. He may have even received a medal for his outstanding achievements.

I would what we would do if someone was going to destroy our home? (sic) Israel has demolished thousands of Palestinians homes in Israel and the Occupied territories. Here is what the Toronto Star has to say about the incident .
Seth Freedman's article is below.
Ed Corrigan
The Toronto Star, which failed to report a single word about the assassinations of 4 Arabs (including 2 teenagers) in the West Bank during the past week of course had extensive coverage of yesterday's bulldozer rampage in Jerusalem...
From "Death by bulldozer in Jerusalem," By Oakland Ross,Toronto Star, Jul 03, 2008 04:30 AM;
"Dwayyat had been fined $50,000 for building his house without a permit, and a demolition order was on file, said Hassib Nashashibi, head of a group that defends Palestinians against such orders. That might explain Dwayyat's motivation in the attack, and the circumstances might also influence Israel's decision about whether to destroy the house as punishment....
Local residents evidently fear the threat of reprisals by Jewish gangs bent on revenge, and they also harbour worries that Israeli authorities might inflict punishment upon an entire family....
Married with two young children, Dwayyat was remembered yesterday as a quiet but sociable man with no interest in politics - which would be remarkable if it were true. Everyone in this region has an interest in politics."

The Palestinians will be squashed. At best, they'd hope to accept an agreement that creates a series of bantustans in parts of the West Bank and Gaza. I shudder at the thought of the worst (transfer, which has always been Zionists' wet dream, whether "left" or "right"). And since "Israel" as a white European colony will receive legitimacy from its neighbours, the fate of its non-Jewish citizens would also be sealed. Well it seems to me that Israel has made a number of novel contributions to warfare.
First of all collateral damage is now clearly a weapon of war. After every Israeli casualty, within hours, infallibly, a greater number of Palestinians are killed. The total count of Palestinian civilians killed and mutilated is about 4-5 times the Israeli casualties, and that disproportion is increasing – the number of Israelis killed has fallen, that of Palestinians killed is rising.
The systematic and daily assassination of political and religious leaders by Israel is also a new weapon of war.
Thirdly, Israel has expanded the semantics of the term “terrorism” and “murder” to include all enemy hostile action. Thus killing or capturing an Israeli soldier on the battlefield is an act of terrorism. The home of the family of a Palestinian combatant who plans to, attempts to, injures, captures, or kills an Israeli soldier is therefore destroyed.
We also have the new concept of “blood on their hands” which extends to religious and political leaders of the enemy on the one hand, but does not apply to Israeli soldiers taken prisoner on the other. All Israeli soldiers taken prisoner are 1) kidnapped not captured 2) cannot have blood on their hands 3) they metamorphose into “children” or “sons/boys (same word in Hebrew)” in the Israeli parlance and media.
Palestinian terrorists hide in a civilian population, and do not fight the Israeli army (although we note above that that is considered terrorism too). No mention is made of the fact that all the Israeli military camps around Gaza are in civilian residential areas, as are the headquarters of the IDF, in prime real estate in the center of Tel Aviv.
I am no military strategist, but anyone can see the crucial role this double-speak serves to permit the terrorizing of the whole Palestinian community.
It also serves to perpetuate superiority, alienation, demonization, enmity, hate, anger and vengeance as the main weapons exploding any movement toward reconciliation, peace, and cessation of the blood-letting among the Israeli public.
The Israeli security policy is simple. Israel will use any action against the Palestinians that it believes will save Israeli lives, in the long-term if not in the short term. The innocence of the Palestinian non-combatants is not an issue. Killing them, destroying their homes, livelihood farms, commerce, education, health, social, police, judicial, and administrative capacities is kosher. Israel has drawn the line, however, on mass expulsions since ‘67 (although there are various forms of creeping expulsion), and has not carried out mass killings against the Palestinians, arguably excluding the attacks on Lebanon in '82 and 2006.

[alef] New Israeli study: Not more than 5 million Jews were exterminated by the Nazis
In fact the 6 million figure has never been accepted uncritically and indeed it is impossible to know exactly how many died. Raul Hilberg estimated that 5.1 million died. Hannah Arendt I think went as low as 4 million. The reality is that noone knows how many hundreds of thousands, possibly as much as 1.5 million, Russian Jews escaped to or were taken into the Soviet heartland. Certainly whole Jewish villages were evacuated as the Nazis began Operation Barbarossa. Likewise the number of those who were hidden or otherwise survived may have been larger than is recognised.
To those for whom the Holocaust is primarily an ideological weapon to be employed against the Palestinians then of course 6 million is a symbol that cannot be abandoned. But noone seriously believes you can make an estimate within a million and claim absolute accuracy. Rudolph Vrba believed over 2.5 million died in Auschwitz and this was what Hoess, the Commandant also came up with. Hilberg estimates it as little more than 1 million.
It is though interesting that those who deny the Nakba also claim that the Palestinian refugees were not deliberately expelled but merely the unfortunate victims of war.

*Tune-in and remember! *
*Thursday, May 15th, 2008, commemorates 60 years of the Palestinian Nakba. In 1948 eighty-five percent of the Palestinians living in the areas that became the state of Israel became refugees. More than 500 Palestinian villages were depopulated and later destroyed to prevent the return of the refugees. Today there are a total of 7 million Palestinian refugees, dispersed throughout the world - the largest and longest running refugee problem yet unresolved.
60-years later, Israel continues to occupy and colonize Palestinian land through the construction of Jewish only settlements and the Wall in the West Bank. The Gaza Strip has been turned into one large prison. Israel violates international law and commits ongoing war crimes and crimes against humanity. And Palestinians abroad are the world's oldest refugee population, making-up more than one fourth of all refugees.

[alef] Re: Kol Israel disgusting sectorial demagoguery and propaganda
Having just listened to the program, it surprises even those like me who expect little from the IBA. In a paradoxical way, it is making the case for those who are arguing for an urgent boycott of Israeli institutions. Such level of crude incitement and manipulation of information, provocation, reducing the advocates of post-Zionism to dangerous enemies with a dramatic tone of voice and with dramatic music in the background is a text book example of incitement by denigration. The equation of post-Zionism with anti-Semitism, Nazism and etc, in an authoritative broadcast of official broadcaster of the Israeli state is a way of de-humanizing the individuals that hold those views, a prelude to shooting them by either private individuals or by the state. It reminds the incitement the preceded the assassination of Rabin. We must not forget the inciting role of official radio broadcasts in the crimes in Ruanda.
Please, could some urgently transcribe this program into English? It is crucially important to let the world know if we wish to protect the lives of the people endangered by it.

FALLACY AND BANKRUPTCY OF THE ZIONIST PROJECT:ISRAEL IS A STATE BASED ON ETHNIC CLEANSING AND LAND THEFT
...
When the Zionists began to talk about creation of a state in Palestine, the number of Jews living in Palestine did not exceed 10,000. Accordingly, creation of a .Jewish State in Palestine required Ethnic Cleansing and Land Theft. And this is exactly what started in 1948 and is still going on to this date.
...
It is about time for the Jews living in Palestine to admit the fallacy and bankruptcy of the Zionist project and to accept to live in peace and harmony with the Palestinian Arabs as equal people with equal rights and to allow the Refugees to go back to the lands and homes that were stolen from them.

And Israel falsely alleges Palestinians to be terrorists and Jew haters based purely on their identity so that Israel can carry out its crimes which they've been doing for decades. Justifying crimes against humanity by demonizing societies of people was a Nazi tactic. They did the same thing with the Roma Gyspies who they determined to be genetically criminal-minded.
So while the Nazis carried out crimes according to "identity," the New Nazis are doing the same, albeit using different tactics but with the same despicable mentality.

Classifying the State of Israel as an apartheid state will, hopefully sooner rather than later, subject the rogue Government of the State of Israel to international sanctions under UN International Convention on the Suppression and Punishment of the Crime of Apartheid (entered into force 1976).
Classifying the State of Israel as a "Hafradah" state is a whitewash directed to assist Israeli apartheid evade international sanctions.

Shraga Elam, ex-Israeli Swiss fan of Holocaust Denier David Irving, writing in ALEF Nov 22, 2006:
'Please bring me
a single written
proof and I’ll agree with you. In order to demonstrate the
desperate situation of the intentionalists I’ll quote the
“discovery” of a German historian called Christian Gerlach, who in
1998 found an entry in Himmler’s diary from December 18, 1941. After
meeting Hitler, Himmler wrote a note saying something like “Jews are
to be treated like partisans.”
'The whole world applauded the historian for his important
“discovery” and Yehuda Bauer gave a lengthy interview about it to
the Ha’aretz Supplement. I wrote a letter to the editor which
angered Amnon Rubinstein. I wrote that this entry is no proof at
all. First of all it doesn’t say that Hitler told Himmler so and if
he did, it doesn’t talk about gassing Jews, as the partisans were
shot immediately after they were caught and not gassed. But this had
happened already before December and was found by the SS leadership
as not effective enough as a method against Jews.
'I wrote that I can understand why Zionists like Bauer are so happy
about this “discovery”, because
if Hitler ordered the “Final Solution”, it is understood that
there was no chance to save Jews and therefore the Jewish Agency
leadership was not guilty of
abandoning the European Jews and of sabotaging possible large scale
rescue chances.
'As I thought that it was possible to convince Irving to stop
denying the Holocaust I wrote in a polite way and stated that he was
a
brilliant researcher, which is a fact not noted only by myself.
I thought that it was a good opening and then afterwards decided not
to pursue the issue, …
'It is a very strange situation that even somebody like Eichmann, who was very central to the “Final Solution” (he was present at the Wannsee Confernce) didn’t see a written order from Hitler. It is widely agreed that Hitler was not a very strong dictator and had no control over many things done in Germany. What I’m saying isn’t a defense for Hitler. He was a criminal even without Auschwitz. He is directly responsible for many crimes ad not only against Jews.'

'A German friend told me that for the older German generation the claim that Hitler didn’t know about the Auschwitz project is a very important argument. Because they can claim then that even if Hitler did not know about the industrial extermination how could have they known about it. I’m not trying to protect any one and I care for the truth, even if it doesn’t fit my prejudices. It is a fact that the “Final Solution” was a top secret issue and it is to be seen in many of the relevant documents. I see the fixation on Hitler as a wrong political analysis, which doesn’t imply any whitewash of him. It has for me religious component. I’m totally against the hysteric attitude towards Holocaust Denial (HD). Till now HD is more dangerous to the deniers themselves while the Israel and its lobby make a profit out of it and find in it a justification for expanding the Holocaust religion while more and more people are getting fed up with the over kill.'

Hochhuth who had based one of his plays on a previous Irving’s research said later that he referred to Irving’s work before he had started to deny the Holocaust. Irving was really a very respected researcher till he started to deny the Judeocide. I find it almost amusing that the racists witch-hunters from the IsraCampus.org.il are claiming that I’m disseminating “Anti-Semite” material, because I claim that there is no written proof that Hitler ordered the industrial extermination of the Jews and that he didn’t get real reports on it.'

Aengus Snodaigh is absolutely correct to designate Israel as one of "the most abhorrent and despicable regimes on the planet," and this with respect to its own, as well as with respect to Palestinians. Ask Israelis suffering from pancreas cancer who haven't the money to purchase the medication that can extend their lives how the government treats them. Ask 40% of aged Holocaust survivors how Israel treats them. Ask the 1 of every 3 Israeli children that goes to bed hungry how Israel treats him/her. And so on and so on, while Israel continues to pour money into expansion, and ethnic cleansing (with over 9000 Palestinians incarcerated, including children as young as 12 years of age). Israel is becoming a third world country (Israel now has the highest poverty level of any western country) for the sake of globalization and expansion! The government has money but prefers to spend it on expansion and ethnic cleansing. And the Security Council refuses to censure Israel!
Sounds like the 1930s all over again, only now the victims instead of being Jews, other non-Arians, physically and mentally imperfect Arians, and the Sudetenland are impoverished Israelis (Jewish and Muslim) and the Palestinians.

Shraga Elam on ALEF praising the Hamas victory, Feb 1, 2006:
'The sweeping electoral victory of Hamas is primarily a triumph for the Israeli government and a big defeat for Palestinian interests. The international pressure on the Palestinians is growing. If Hamas will not make now substantial and painful concessions it risks a massive cut in the financial international support and further escalation in the Israeli anti-Palestinian measures. If it will commit such concessions it will not only betray its voters, but the Israeli government will demand more. Now e.g. there is the demand that Hamas will recognize Israel and will declare that it gives up the armed struggle, before substantial economic aid will be rendered. If Hamas will fulfil (sic) these conditions, it will be confronted with others like the impossible demand to renounce the Right of Return for the Palestinian refugees…. Collective punishments have been imposed under the declared goal that the Palestinians will put their pressure on the militants to stop their activities. An alleged aim that the Israeli generals know perfectly well cannot be thus achieved, as the Palestinian civilians can hardly impose such a line on the militants. …From the perspective of the Israeli elite the Hamas electoral victory is a win-win-situation. ,,, It is very difficult for colonialized (sic) people to look for a peaceful and just mode of coexistence with their oppressors and vice versa it is difficult for the colonialists to give up their privileges and arrogant attitudes.'
