Hebrew University - Nadera Shaloub-Kevorkian (Dept of Law) uses Biased "Narratives" in lieu of Academic Research in order to Bash Israel

Her prejudices are everywhere apparent in her "research interviewing." In her book, Shaloub-Kevorkian claims that in her "interviews" with women and girls the term "weaponize" (sic) was used by them to describe their everyday clothing, always "from woman to woman." We are to believe that Arab women and schoolgirls dress to "weaponize" (sic) against the masculine dominant culture among Israelis. But not among Arabs, even among whom marriage guides about beating wives are number one best sellers. She then falsely claims that Arab women were dispersed from their villages in 1948 during the misnamed "Nakba" as an intentional part of Israeli policy. The fact that the Arabs attempted to launch a genocidal war of destruction against the Jews is nowhere mentioned.

"Rape" accusations by Shaloub-Kevorkian are particularly vile. The irony is that an anti-Israel leftist graduate student at the Hebrew University wrote a thesis trying to prove that the well-known fact that Israeli soldiers never rape Arab women proves that the Jews are racists!

Georgetown University and Hebrew University's Nadera Shaloub-Kevorkian (Dept of Law & Sociology) Toddles and Interviews for the Jihad

Nadera Shaloub-Kevorkian, who is universally regarded by herself as an expert on the oppression of women, especially in conflict zones, is a sociologist. She earned three degrees in Israel, then made an earlier career out of traveling to America as a professional anti-Israel propagandist. She has lectured at such prestigious colleges as USC and Columbia, where she spreads her poison about Israel. Although she is an Israeli-Arab who owes her advanced degrees to the Israeli educational system, she typically blames Israel (translate that to mean "the Jews") for everything wrong in the world today. Recently, she expanded her resume by earning a law degree at the Hebrew University. This has netted her a new position as a visiting professor on the faculty of law at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.

It is particularly significant that she is teaching at Georgetown since that campus has been bought and paid for by Arab-Musilm interests. The biggest financier of Hamas, Saudi Alwaleed Bin Talal, not long ago gave Georgetown $20 million dollars, and the campus boasts a satellite campus in Qatar. Its chaplain, though Georgetown is a Jesuit college, is a Muslim Imam who hates Israel. Georgetown actually has segregated dorms, where only Muslim students can live, and even hosted a national US ISM training conference back in 2006. Adding a law professor like Ms. Shaloub-Kevorkian must help round out the University's status in the Arab world. The page about her on the official Georgetown web site suggests she concentrates on women's rights and abuse issues, while it forgets to mention how she blames Israel for abuses by Arabs of Arab women, particularly "honor killings," something she redubs "femicides," along with innuendos about rape.

One toady review/ bio about her states, "The career of Shalhoub-Kevorkian has involved painstaking research and documentation of abuses perpetrated by the international community, the Israeli Occupation, and Palestinian society against Palestinian women and girls. This research and documentation has provided the foundation for her gender-based advocacy and activism. Having recently been awarded the 2008 Gruber Women's Rights Prize for her work to combat violence against women in the Occupied Palestine Territory, it comes as no surprise then that Shalhoub-Kevorkian would continue to write on a subject to which she has dedicated her life." It also states, "Shalhoub-Kevorkian draws upon data primarily from her own clinical research and personal family narratives, as well as from other Palestinian women's rights researchers and historians."

Translate that last sentence to mean she lies a lot, makes stuff up, and repeats Palestinian propaganda against Israel. This is particularly the case when she writes about "Honor Killings" of Arab women, which she blames on Israel's existence as an "occupier." Currently, the PA has a six month prison sentence on the books for murderers of women in the Palestinian Authority. It is never enforced. She particularly likes to rely on the remarks of Arab children as proof of state policy.

Here's a quote from one of her books which she extrapolated from an interview with a 14 year-old Arab girl:

"Violations of women's bodies become the very nature of the nation of Palestine itself and violence such as rape is treated as a national security concern. Acts such as going to school and wearing the hijab (veil) become acts of resistance for women. In fact, wearing a hijab becomes a way of not just declaring opposition to the Occupation, but clearly defining one's presence within a militarized and masculinized (sic) space. Women's bodies are thus true battlegrounds and sites of resistance as women employ not only the hijab, but traditional embroidery on clothing and the practice of religion as forces of resistance."

The wearing of the hijab, while gaining popularity during the Iranian revolution, was routinely done among Arab Moslems, and many women in the PA do not wear them. Embroidery is simply to make things pretty. But for Shaloub-Kevorkian everything is a statement of resistance against the Jews. For her wearing the hijab is "resistance" against the Jews.

Shaloub-Kevorkian has claimed IDF soldiers rape Arab women at checkpoints. Since not one instance can be found, a fellow anti-Israel Hebrew University extremist invented a study that claimed that IDF soldiers don't rape Arab women because they consider them "subhuman."

The best way to get a good idea of Shaloub-Kevorkian's mindset is to read her personal web log, or blog, found on the Web. She uses "narratives" of her own experiences, which often means outright lies. For example, she claims that neither she nor her Armenian husband can park their cars in front of police stations in Israel or even their own apartment building because only Jews are allowed to park in these places. How much money will she pay Isracampus if we arrange for an Arab or Armenian to park a car there and they do not get any ticket?

In another case, she discusses breaking up a fight between some 8 year-olds in front of her apartment building, the result supposedly of some Jewish kids arguing over playground rights with some Arab kids. Never a word about Arab adolescents throwing rockets at Jews every day do we hear from her. Shaloub-Kevorkian would have us believe that the argument between these kids was the result of Israeli state policy being acted out by the Jewish toddlers against the Arabs.

The following quote is from her blog:

"When looking from my window two hours later, one could see how the scene in my street was affected by the continuous power game played in my spaces for so many years. Just by standing on the window, one could hear the very noisy Jews, including Jewish mothers pushing their children's strollers, speaking in Hebrew in a loud voice, walking in the middle of the street while the soldiers and police officers with their rifles and guns are "protecting them" making sure they are safe; On the other side, and on the side walk, Palestinian families, with young children carried on the shoulders of their fathers and mothers, walk, very close to the wall of my building, with such silence, the kind of silence that speaks much more than words. With their speedy manner of walking, and the noise of their shoes and women's heals, telling a story of humiliation, a story of fear, of power, and of determination to keep on walking."

Even the noise of shoes as Arabs walk in the Jewish state tell "a story of humiliation" to this phony academic advocating against the Jews. She's more a creative writer than a legal scholar or sociology researcher. And she does no service to the women of the Middle East other than push their children to make endless war on the Jews.

Congratulations, Georgetown, you picked a toddling winner. It should net you many more donations.
