University of Haifa - Yuval Yonay (Dept. of Sociology) writing on the Segel-Plus list on 18 January 2009, endorses the smears of Israel as a Nazi country made by anti-Semitic British Member of Parliament. Yonay writes:

'A recent item on youtube carries the tittle [sic] "UK Jewish MP: Israel acting like Nazis in Gaza". ... As I guessed, nowhere does the honorable MP (Sir Gerald Kaufman) makes [sic] the comparison hinted in the title. He talked very reservedly [sic] and eloquently, mentioning some known facts that many of us prefer to forget.

What he said about the holocaust is as follows: "My grandmother was ill in bed when the Nazis came to her home town a German soldier shot her dead in her bed. My grandmother did not die to provide cover for Israeli soldiers murdering Palestinian grandmothers in Gaza. The present Israeli government ruthlessly and cynically exploits the continuing guilt from gentiles over the slaughter of Jews in the Holocaust as justification for their murder of Palestinians."

'Every word is true, but it is easier to deny.

'He also mentioned that an Israeli spokeman [sic] replied that many of the Palestinian victims (800 at the time, climbing to 1245 as of this morning) were militants "was the reply of the Nazi" and added: "I suppose the Jews fighting for their lives in the Warsaw ghetto could have been dismissed as militants." If someone can find a logical flaw here, I am interested in seeing it.

'Sir Kaufman urged the British government to support arm boycott on Israel (a moderate request these days) and to campaign for real peace rather than the peace that Israel seeks, a peace on Israel's terms. he ended by saying that Israeli leaders "are not simply war criminals, they are fools."

'I am sure about the latter; I was careful about using the term "war criminal," but the disrespect [sic] of palestinian [sic] lives seems to leave us with no other possibility.'
